About the artist

David Ashitei Armah, known professionally as Davehunter, is a dynamic fine art photographer from Accra, Ghana. A proud member of the Ga tribe, which he refers to as the “fishing tribe,” Armah finds deep inspiration in his environment – particularly the ocean, lush vegetation, and the rich cultural diversity of Accra.

Originally a painter, Armah transitioned to photography nearly a decade ago, inviting viewers into his creative mind. His work reflects the interplay of community and identity, capturing individuals from various tribes, including the Ga, Ashanti, and Ewe. His approach is intentional, often embedding clues within the titles of his pieces, encouraging deeper engagement with his art. Armah focuses on what he knows and loves best – the beauty, depth, and complexity of Ghanaian culture.
